Contact Arlington Dental Associates today, we’d be more than happy to get you on our schedule for a consultation.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth are the final molars that typically appear around the age of 17-25 and were originally used to properly chew hard to digest foods. As we’ve evolved, many people don’t have adequate room for wisdom teeth, often causing problems such as impaction. In the event wisdom teeth cause problems or do not properly erupt, wisdom tooth removal in Arlington may be recommended.

About Wisdom Teeth Extractions

During a wisdom tooth extraction, an incision may need to be made in the gums and/or bone to properly access the tooth. In some situations, the wisdom tooth may also need to be broken before it can be fully removed. Once your wisdom tooth/teeth have been removed, the surgery site will be closed to allow for healing. Following wisdom tooth removal swelling is common, medication will be provided to reduce pain and discomfort.

When Should Wisdom Teeth Be Removed?

At Arlington Dental Associates we recommend wisdom tooth extractions as early as possible. As the patient ages, wisdom teeth may become more secure, making them harder to remove along with potentially causing damage to the surrounding areas.
